New Delhi: After a clean sweep in the first two ODIs, India came back strongly and produced an all-round performance to register a comprehensive 227-run win in the third ODI against Bangladesh. Third biggest win in terms of runs.
Despite the record margin of victory – the biggest defeat by any team against Bangladesh, the 1-2 series loss will surely haunt the Indian team as both the matches slipped out of its grip after being in pole position.

Left-handed Kishan, who replaced injured skipper Rohit Sharma, made full use of the opportunity and scored 210 off 131 balls, including 24 fours and 10 sixes, helping India post a mammoth 409/8.

Batting legend Virat Kohli also got into action as he scored his 44th ODI hundred and in the process broke former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting’s record of 71 international hundreds.
The Indian bowlers also lauded the stupendous performance of their batsmen with Axar Patel (2/22) taking the lead. Shardul Thakur (3/30), Umran Malik (2/43), Mohammad Siraj (1/27) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/53) never let the Bangladesh batsmen dominate as they shared the spoils among themselves.

The total was always going to be insurmountable and Bangladesh were never in contention as they were bowled out for 182 in 34 overs, with all the Indian bowlers among the wickets.
Kishan’s blistering innings and the intent he showed in embracing the Bangladesh attack will definitely put the team management under pressure to make some tough decisions as it heads into the World Cup year.
In fact, such was his dominance that Rohit Sharma’s world record ODI score of 264 was in danger of becoming history.

“I got out with 15 (14.1) overs to spare. I could have scored 300,” Kishan told the official broadcasters during the innings break.
Apart from Rohit’s three double tons, the other two Indian batsmen to achieve the feat are Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.
He revealed his strategy, “I am blessed to hear my name among such legends. The wicket was great to bat on. My intention was very clear – if the ball is there, I will go for it.”
After completing his maiden ODI century in 85 balls, Kishan batted in T20 mode as the records kept on being broken. His 156 runs came in the form of sixes and boundaries, which spoke volumes for the relentless assault he took on the Bangladeshi bowlers.

Short balls were pulled, length balls were driven, width balls were cut fiercely.
West Indies’ Chris Gayle held the previous record with his 138-ball double ton against Zimbabwe in 2015. After touching the three-figure mark, Kishan scored the next 100 in just 41 balls.
Kohli was also in fine form en route to his 72nd international hundred as the duo stitched together a 290-run partnership off just 190 balls.
“I was batting with Virat bhai, and he was spot on about which bowlers I had to choose (to target). I was on 95 and wanted to score a hundred with a six, but he told me Calmed down saying it was my first match.” Hundred, get it in singles as it is your first,” he said.
After scoring his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup earlier this year, Kohli went on to record his maiden ODI ton since August, 2019.
In memory of Haris Rauf’s famous six in the T20 World Cup, he picked a back-of-a-length delivery from Abadot Hossain for a six to reach his century in 86 balls.
Once both were gone, India could only manage 70 runs in the last 10 overs for the loss of five wickets.
Having already conceded the three-match series after losing the first two ODIs after normal batting, India led by KL Rahul brought in Kishan to open alongside the struggling Shikhar Dhawan.
Their opening partnership lasted 4.1 overs as Mehdi Hasan trapped Dhawan lbw for three runs. He almost had it when the off-spinner drove Kohli straight to short mid-wicket, but was dropped for a six by skipper Liton Das.
Thereafter, it was one-way traffic for India as Kishan tore apart the Bangladesh bowling with his explosive batting. Playing mostly boundaries, the tiny batsman preferred the short-pitched stuff and looked in total control on both sides of the wicket.
Kohli performed ‘Bhangra’ before hugging the youngster after completing his double century.
