‘Massive shout but Virat Kohli one of those guys…’: Stokes’ big comparison | Cricket

England’s aggressive approach of playing the longest and oldest format has continued to pay rich dividends for the Three Lions in the second edition of the ICC World Test Championship. Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, were expected to live up to their favorite tag when England toured the Asian nation for the first time in 17 years. Led by superstar Ben Stokes, the Brendon McCullum-coached side outclassed favorites Pakistan, who started the second Test of the three-match series as the first.

A fighting century in the second innings from Harry Brooke and a blistering spell from Mark Wood was enough to decimate Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Ground. Brook and Wood set up England’s 26-run win over Pakistan, which paved the way for Stokes’ men to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Talking about England’s stupendous win in Multan, Stokes identified one man who he believes has the ability to deliver the goods like batting icon Virat Kohli.

talking to sky game, the England captain lauded his teammate Brook, who was named player of the match in the second Test. “Harry had a great summer last year and had all the big ups and downs before making his debut at the end of the summer. It’s great to be here and do the same thing again. He is one of those rare players where you see him across formats and you can see him succeed anywhere. Massive shout out but Virat Kohli is one of those guys where his technique is so simple that it works everywhere,” Stokes said.

The 23-year-old has played only 3 Tests for the Three Lions. Brooke made his Test debut against South Africa at the Kennington Oval earlier this year. Brook’s 108 from 149 balls laid the foundation for England’s match-winning score in the second innings. A Wood-inspired England bundled out Pakistan for 328 before lunch on the fourth day as the hosts lost the series decider by 26 runs. England will take on Pakistan in the third and final Test at the Karachi National Stadium on Saturday.
