Ahmed dismissed Pakistan captain Babar Azam and key player Mohammad Rizwan as his spin bowling proved to be a game changer for England on the third day.
The 18-year-old became the youngest player in men’s Test history to take a five-wicket haul in a single innings, breaking the previous record held by Australia’s Pat Cummins.
Ahmed told the BBC, “It was probably the best day of my life again. Getting a five-wicket haul on debut is a dream come true.” “I have bowled better balls and not taken wickets. Getting Babar Azam out is a dream come true. He is a very good player.”
“I liked Rizwan’s wicket because I have been working hard on my leg-spin for the last two months with bowling coach Jeetan Patel. It was great to get a bit of spin on one.”
After dismissing Pakistan for 216 runs in the second innings, the England team is chasing the target of 167 runs.
They will resume later on Tuesday on 112-2, needing 55 runs to win the Test and become the first Test team to complete a 3-0 whitewash in Pakistan, having won the first two Tests in Rawalpindi and Multan .
