Top-order batsman Avishka Fernando on Wednesday made a comeback into Sri Lanka’s limited overs squad for the series against India starting January 3 in Mumbai.
Fernando last played for Sri Lanka in February, after which he was sidelined due to injury. He is back in the team after impressive performances in the recently held Lanka Premier League. The 24-year-old is part of both the teams.
Sri Lanka Cricket has selected a 20-man squad for three T20Is and as many ODIs.
Another LPL player Sadeera Samarawickrama has been selected in the squad in place of Dinesh Chandimal. Chamka Karunaratne has made a comeback after a productive LPL.
Dasun Shanaka will captain both the teams, with Wanindu Hasaranga as his deputy in T20 format and Kusal Mendis in ODIs.
After the first match of the T20 series in Mumbai, the teams will travel to Pune (January 5) and Rajkot (January 7).
The ODI series will be played in Guwahati, Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram on January 10, 12 and 15 respectively.
