Rishabh Pant likely to be ruled out of IPL 2023 after horrific car accident: Report | Cricket

Rishabh Pant, who miraculously survived a horrific car accident on Friday, is undergoing treatment at Max Hospital in Dehradun and is recovering well. The wicketkeeper-batsman suffered injuries in a fatal accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, with several cuts and bruises on his body. The 25-year-old also suffered a ligament tear on his right knee and according to Cricbuzz, Pant will miss the Test series vs Australia in February-March, and may even have to ‘skip’ IPL 2023, where he captains Delhi Capitals . The Cricbuzz report also revealed that the exact nature of the treatment and timing of Pant’s recovery, rehabilitation will be decided only after the treatment for his ligament tear begins. The report also states that Pant will recover from other external injuries before starting his ligament tear treatment, and the BCCI itself may decide on the treatment.

Pant was not included in the roster for the upcoming white-ball series versus Sri Lanka, and was included in the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh. A BCCI release detailing his injuries said that he is stable. “Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and also injuries to his right wrist, ankle, toe and abrasions on his back. The driver and conductor of the Haryana Roadways bus were among the first to reach the accident site on Friday morning. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the driver revealed that he did not know that Pant was a cricketer and rescued him on humanitarian grounds. He said that the car was yet to catch fire and Pant was halfway out the window, and then he and the conductor pulled him out. They initially thought he was dead and returned his belongings in an ambulance.
