Coming out to bat, India had opener Lokesh and A.J. Lost Ravi inside 4 overs when the score was 50. Ravi scored 30 runs. Sujit Munda got out in the 6th over after scoring 14 runs.
Ajay joined Sunil in the middle and both the batsmen put on a massive 144-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Ajay completed his half-century with the help of 12 fours. He ended his innings by scoring 81 runs in just 29 balls with the help of 17 fours.
Sunil, who scored his maiden century against Nepal, punished South Africa’s bowling. He raced towards his century and ended his innings on 110, which came off just 47 balls with the help of 17 fours and 3 sixes.
Vice-captain D. Venkateswara Rao and wicketkeeper-batsman Prakash Jayaramayya scored quick runs to take India past 300.
India ended the innings on 337/6. Prakash scored 22 not out in 12 balls and Venkateshwar scored 18 runs in 6 balls. Issac Asanda Birla and Bhule Bhidla took one wicket each for South Africa.
In reply, South Africa could never get the momentum going while chasing the mammoth target. The Indian bowling attack let them down and lost wickets at regular intervals.
SA slumped to 67/8 as Ajay Kumar Reddy was one of the bowlers to take 3 wickets. He was well supported by Sunil and Lokesh who took a wicket each.
